Obituary: Joseph Edward ‘Joe’ Blandford, 68

Joseph Edward “Joe” Blandford, 68, left this life on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at his home in the arms of his wife, as he wanted.

He was born in Lebanon and lived for most of his life exactly where he wanted to be, on his beloved farm in St. Mary’s. He was a warm man who seldom met a stranger, always had a joke to share, and loved his wife and family. He believed in hard work and lived as he believed.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Tet offensive and experienced many close calls in Vietnam. He rose to the rank of sergeant with his final service as a drill instructor in Fort Polk, La.

He was a Certified Public Accountant and worked in Bardstown for many years with his longtime business partner and friend, Brenda Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William O. and Ella Blandford; one sister, Mary T. Blandford; and one brother, James M. Blandford.

Left behind to mourn his passing are his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 49 years, Phyllis Ann Blandford (Daugherty); three sons, Joseph E. Blandford Jr. (Stephanie) of Louisville, William Perry Blandford (Sharon) of Nashville and Jason Louis Blandford (Whitney) of Warrenton, Va.; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, at the Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon with military honors conducted by the Marion County Veteran Honor Guard.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the funeral home.

The Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon is in charge of arrangements.
