Obituary: James Michael ‘Mike’ Simpson, 61, formerly Bardstown

JAMES MICHAEL “MIKE” SIMPSON

James Michael “Mike” Simpson, 61, of Smiths Grove, formerly Bardstown, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was born Nov. 15, 1955, in Lebanon. He was owner of Simpson Home Improvements, and a member of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Simpson of Smiths Grove; one daughter, Darcy (Craig) Robbins of Louisville; three sons, Alex Simpson of Boise, Idaho, Michael Paul LeClair of California, and Jacob Simpson of Montana; five sisters, Beulah Mae Hardin of Loretto, Cathy (Keith) Gartland and Rita Peake, both of Bardstown, Helen (Eddie) Kappell of Cox’s Creek, and Clara Jean (Lee) Rogers of Balltown; three brothers, Tommy Simpson and Stevie Simpson, both of Bardstown, and Freddy (Genie) Simpson of Shepherdsville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 42 nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home with cremation to follow with Deacon Sam Filiatreau officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017, and 9-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to American Cancer Society.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
