Obituary: Robert Thomas ‘Tom Dooley’ Durbin, 56, Bardstown
Robert Thomas “Tom Dooley” Durbin, 56, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville. He was born Oct. 9, 1960, in Nelson County. He was an employee for Communicare, a resident of Tom McKay Center, a member of New Beginning Baptist Church. He enjoyed his time with Special Olympics, loved wildlife and UK basketball.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Catherine Durbin; three brothers, Joseph Lee Durbin, Louis Stephen Durbin and Joseph Quint Durbin; paternal grandparents, Roy Durbin Sr. and Fronie Durbin; and maternal grandparents, Norris and Mary Frances Riley.
He is survived by his father, Marion Ray Durbin; three sisters, Phyllis Ann (Randy) Milby, and Patsy (Mitchell) Price both of Bardstown, and Margaret “Peggy” (Lennie) Sneed of Campbellsville; four brothers, Johnny Ray Durbin of Bardstown, Phillip Marion Durbin of Harrodsburg, Mike (Ronda) Durbin of Taylorsville, and Tim (Brandi) Durbin of Harrodsburg; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and aunts, and uncles.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017, at the Barlow Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griggs officiating. Burial is in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, and 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may go to Nelson County Handicap Association, the Tom McKay Center or Communicare.
