Local businesses, residents warned to be wary of counterfeit bills

Friday, June 16, 2017, 10 p.m. — The Bardstown Police Department is advising local businesses and residents to take a second look at paper money you may receive as payment.

According to Bardstown Police Chief Steve Uram, the BPD is currently investigating counterfeit $50 bills being passed at local businesses. A suspect is under investigation in one incident and the department is expecting to pursue criminal charges.

Uram advises the public to contact the Bardstown Police Department if they have any paper money that appears suspicious and may possibly be counterfeit.
