Obituary: Jesse Pershing ‘Tootie’ Rummage Jr., 76, Cox’s Creek

Jesse Pershing “Tootie” Rummage Jr., 76, of Cox’s Creek, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville. He was born Oct. 28, 1940, to the late Jesse P. Sr., and Hazel Trent Rummage. He was a retired truck driver for Smith Brothers Trucking, an Army veteran and a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beatrice Rummage; one brother, Woodrow “Woody” Rummage; and one great-grandson, Brice Binkley.

He is survived by four daughters, Terry (Danny) Fogle and Tammy (Miguel) Guillan. both of Bardstown, and Lena Rummage and Kelly (John) Easton, both of Cox’s Creek; three sons, Tony (Lisa) Rummage of Lebanon, Craig (Lisa) Rummage of Cox’s Creek, and Jeff Rummage of Bardstown; four sisters, Faye Hatfield of Boston, Mamie (Herman) Hatfield of South Carolina, Mary Ann Welch of Bardstown and Peggy (Don) Coffman of Cox’s Creek; two brothers, Joe (Diane) Rummage of Bardstown and Billy Rummage of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Jonathan Gann officiating. Burial is in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017, and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family request that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to New Salem Baptist Church.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.
