Firefighters respond for active alarm at distillery bottling house

Wednesday, June 21, 2017, 9 a.m. — An active fire alarm at the Heaven Hill Distilleries bottling house on Loretto Road caused a few anxious moments for company employees this morning at about 20 minutes after 8.

The Nelson County Fire Department and the Bardstown Fire Department were both dispatched to the bottling house for a an active fire alarm called in by the alarm company. Employees had evacuated the building when fire crews arrived on the scene. Firefighters found no fire but determined that a forklift apparently damaged a sprinkler head, triggering the alarm. Fire crews were at the scene for about 30 minutes.
