Tri-County United Way board introduces organizations new director

Thursday, June 22, 2017, 3 p.m. — After 30 years of leadership, Kenny Fogle, executive director of Tri-County United Way, introduced the woman who will take over the operation of one of the region’s most important non-profit agencies.
Fogle, along with John G. Mattingly, associate director and members of the United Way board, introduced Laura Sedlatschek at a noontime event Thursday at the Nelson County Civic Center.
The New Jersey native has lived in the Boston area for 10 years. She 30 years of non-profit experience to the job, including working the past 10 years as a consultant writing grants for foundations, corporations and federal entities. She has worked in nearly all aspects of planning and executing fundraising plans, including a stint as campaign director with the United Way of Somerset County, N. J.
Sedlatschek said her short-term goal is to get to know the local agencies the local United Way has assisted. In the long-term, she wants to continue to grow the Tri-County United Way’s donor base, particularly in adjoining Washington and Marion County.
Fogle said he will work to assist Sedlatschek in getting acclimated in her new role before he steps away from his leadership position. Associated director and former Marion County judge-executive John G. Mattingly said he plans to continue to serve with the organization.
The Tri-County United Way returns approximately 90 percent of funds it raises back to the Nelson, Washington and Marion County community in the form of grants to organizations that help local residents in time of need.
