Obituary: Elizabeth Helen Downs, 94, Bardstown
Elizabeth Helen Downs, 94, of Bardstown, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday June 22, 2017. She was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Nelson County. She was a homemaker, a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and loved her faith and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Downs; one son, Thomas Randall “T.R.” Downs; an infant son, Charles Russell Downs; her parents, Robert Russell and Lanie Hutchins Greenwell; two sisters, Hester Greenwell and Lorean Bartley; three brothers, Collins Greenwell, Marvin Greenwell, and Donnie Greenwell.
She is survived by five daughters, Fay (Joe) Hagan of Loretto, Joyce (Bobby) Peake and Debbie (Bo) Watts, both of Bardstown, Sue (Bill) Adams of Willisburg, and Marie (Gerald) Osborne of Lebanon; six sons, Kenny Downs, Herbie (Janie) Downs, Billy (Gail) Downs, Gary (Phyllis) Downs and Joe (Lisa) Downs, all of Bardstown, and Todd (Donna) Downs of Loretto; one daughter-in-law, Elaine Kelty of Loretto; four sisters, Valinda Pettit of Bardstown, Sister Delores Greenwell of Nazareth, Lavon Cecil of Howardstown, and Ann Hall of New Haven; one brother, Happy Greenwell of Bardstown; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial is in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017, and 8-9:15 a.m. Monday at Barlow Funeral Home with a 3 p.m. prayer service Sunday.
Memorial contributions may go to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
