Obituary: James Talbert ‘Jim’ Riggs III, 66, Louisville

James Talbert “Jim” Riggs, III, 66, of Louisville, died Thursday, June 22, 2017, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 2, 1950, in New Hope. He was a former employee of Zeon Chemical Company in Louisville and a member of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his son, Chad Riggs; his parents, Jimmy T. and Louise Cecil Riggs; three sisters, Connie Cissell, Betty Lou Masterson and Sister Margaret Riggs, SCN.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Edith Bartley Riggs; two sons, Greg Riggs (Jennifer) of Lebanon Junction and Troy Riggs of Louisville; six sisters, Shirley Hutchins, Pat Bartley (Doc), Ginger Ayers (Don) and Sara Riggs, all of New Hope, Lois O’Bryan (Jerry) of New Haven and Marinel Clark (Junie) of Cox’s Creek; two brothers, Jackie Riggs (Mary Ann) of Bardstown and Dickie Riggs of Cox’s Creek; three grandchildren, Taylor (Ethan), Chad and Annie; and two great-grandsons, Miller Jack and Levi.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church Street, New Hope with the Rev. Ken Fortener officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 2-7 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 6 p.m. with Deacon Jim Cecil.

Pallbearers are Jackie Riggs, Dickie Riggs, Brandi Ayers, Brooke O’Bryan, Travis Cissell and Brian Bartley.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
