Saturday, June 24, 2017 — One person suffered serious injuries on the Blue Grass Parkway Saturday afternoon when the driver of a van apparently lost control of his vehicle. The van entered the median and went over a guard rail at the Pottershop Road overpass.

The accident happened at about 3 p.m. The Nelson County Fire Department responded and requested assistance from the Bardstown Fire Department due to the van’s precarious position at the overpass. Firefighters had to stabilize the van before they could help the driver out of the vehicle.

Nelson County EMS treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to a waiting medical helicopter at Parkway Baptist Church. The victim was flown to University Hospital for treatment.
