Obituary: James Bernard Smith, 89, formerly of Washington County

James Bernard Smith, 89, formerly of Washington County, died Monday, June 26, 2017, at Frederick Health & Rehab in Frederick, Md.

Survivors include seven daughters, Mary Carey of Springfield, Barbara Ann Thompson and Donna Jean Reed, both of Louisville, Judy Goodin of Lebanon, Kita Steinmetz of Jeffersonville, Ind., Theresa Lanning of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Lou Jaworski of Frederick, Md.; three sons, Steve Smith of Springfield, Bernie Smith of Louisville and Tony Smith of New Orleans, La.; two sisters, Janie Durbin of Bardstown and Carolyn Warlop of Indianapolis; two brothers, Maurice Smith and Don Smith, both of Springfield; 41 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Springfield with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017, and 7-10:15 a.m. Saturday, at the Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield.

The Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
