Wednesday, June 28, 2017 — the family owned and operated Peddlers Mall antique and flea market chain announced Wednesday their plan to build a new Peddlers Mall building in Bardstown that will open by early next year.

The new building will be built on Granite Drive of East John Rowan Blvd behind Colton’s Steak House & Grill.

Peddlers Mall owner John George announced the move Wednesday via a press release.

The building will be the chain’s 18th store, and its first building it will build to house one of its stores, George said. Peddlers Mall locations have until now opened in leased locations.

Bardstown’s reputation as a state and regional tourism destination was a factor in George’s decision to build their first brick-and-mortar store here.

“This is a good investment for the future of the company”, George said.

Peddlers Mall is no stranger to Nelson County. The chain operated a store here in a leased building from the late 1990s through the early 2000s.

George credited Nelson County Judge Executive Dean Watts for helping the company secure its original location.

Since leaving that location, George sai he has been wanting to return.

“We’ve had loyal vendors and customers of the Bardstown community begging us to open a location again,” he said. “We found a new approach to do just that.”

The revamped Peddlers Mall – Bardstown will break ground within the next 30 days. Marketing Manager Taylor Logsdon said the store is already looking to recruit vendors and expects the store to fill up with vendors fast.
