Obituary: Lucky Dennis, 72, Lebanon Junction

Lucky Dennis, 72, of Lebanon Junction, died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at the Norton Hosparus Unit in Louisville. He was a member of the Dusty Acres House of Prayer Church, the McNeil Masonic Lodge #586 F. & A.M. in Lebanon Junction, a past member of the Bullitt County F.O.P., owner of Lucky’s C.B. Sales and Dennis Auto Sales, and worked for General Electric.

He began his police career in the 1970’s when he was the Lebanon Junction Chief of Police. After that, he served as an officer on the Taylorsville Police Department, the Bullitt County Police Department, the Shepherdsville Police Department, assistant chief, detective and chief of the Hillview Police Department, and retired as a deputy for the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Widener Dennis; one son, David Dennis; his father, James G. Dennis; one brother, Bobby Dennis and a great grandson, Tyreese Bethea.

Survivors include his mother, Nancy Underwood Dennis; two daughters, Alice Hill (Bob) and Bonnie Dennis; two stepdaughters, Kelly Rippy (Rob) and Samantha Klingsmith; one stepson, Danny Smith (Janet); one sister, Mary Dennis Blair; one brother, Danny Dennis (Nena); 12 grandchidlren; four great-grandchildren; and his companion and partner in crime, Jamie Nohelty.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at the Dennie Memorial Methodist Church with Bro. Harold Decker officiating. Burial is in the Lebanon Junction City Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. – 8 po.m Friday, June 30, 2017, at the Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Masonic Rites are 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction is in charge of the arrangements.
