Florida nun injured in single-vehicle rollover crash near High Grove

Monday, July 3, 2017 — A Florida woman was seriously injured Monday afternoon when the car she was driving left US31E near High Grove, struck a utility pole and overturned several times.
At 2:18 p.m. Monday, Nelson County EMS, the Nelson County Fire Department and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the High Grove area for an overturned vehicle with the occupant entrapment.
According to a police press release, Therese Dugan, 79, of Clearwater, Fla., a member of the Sisters of Charity of Notre Dame, was southbound on US31E, Louisville Road, on her way to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth’s campus when her car ran off the right shoulder of Louisville Road and overturned. Once firefighters helped Dugan out of her vehicle, she was treated at the scene by EMS and then transported directly to University Hospital for treatment of possible head injuries.
Deputy Jerry Hardin is investigating the crash.
