Obituary: Leona Mae Wells, 82, Hillview

Leona Mae Wells, 82, of Hillview, returned to her heavenly father Monday, July 3, 2017, with her family by her side. She was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal: Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, John P. Shelton and Gladys Eddington Shelton; two children, Timothy Richards and Debbie K. Richardson; and one brother Junior Shelton.

She is survived by one daughter, Susie Lawson (Doug) of Louisville; one son, James S. Richards of Port Richey, Fla.; her siblings, Billy Shelton and Clifford Shelton (Joan), both of Bardstown, Kenny Shelton and Jean Pearl (Jay), both of Bullitt County and Dale Higbee of Louisville; five grandchildren Tim Richards, Doug McCoy, Ashley McDaniel, Micah Humpich and Preston Richards; nine great-grandchildren; and lifelong friends, Amos and Edna Ashbaugh and children.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Maraman Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville with Pastor Rodney Alexander officiating. Burial is at Highland Memory Gardens.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The Maraman Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville is in charge of arrangements.
