Tuesday, July 11, 2017, 1 p.m. — The Bardstown City Council will hold a hearing Tuesday evening prior to its regular meeting to hear an appeal of a Historic Review Board denial regarding the color of a roof on a home in the 100 block of West Broadway.
Homeowner Lucy Gorman had the roof replaced on her home at 110 West Broadway in the city’s historic district. The new roof was installed by a contractor without first having the materials and color reviewed as appropriate for the home by the Historic Review Board.
According to the HRB’s meeting minutes, the board took issue with two aspects of the new metal roof — its color and its sheen. The board denied Gorman’s request to allow the roof to remain unless it was repainted or replaced.
Gorman has appealed the HRB’s recommendation to deny her application. The city council will review the previous testimony and rule on the appeal at the 6 p.m. hearing Tuesday in the City Council Annex adjacent to the Rec. Center on Xavier Drive.
The council’s regular meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the same location.
