Obituary: Julian E. ‘Shoat’ Head, 94, New Haven
Julian E. “Shoat” Head, 94, of New Haven, died Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Windsor Gardens of Bardstown. He was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Fort Knox as a welder after several years of service. He loved his farming and logging for many years after retiring as it was his passion.
He was born Oct. 25, 1922, the son of the late Ernest and Annie Boone Head. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and most of all, friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Dolores Theresa Burba Head; one son, Joseph (Mike) Head; six sisters and four brothers; two great-grandchildren, Mikey Young and Charles Thomas Riggs III.
He is survived by five daughters, Carol Ann Riggs, of Bardstown, Sharon Edelen of Louisville, Joyce (Mike) Flynn of Elizabethtown, Judy (Bill) Rosacker of Radcliff, and Debbie Head Hawthorne of Ohio; five sons, Donald (Minnie) Head, Kenny Head and Chuck (Gina) Head, all of New Haven, and Wayne “Frog” (Renee) Head and Kevin “Pete” (Lisa) Head, both of Lawrenceburg; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2017, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church in New Haven with the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017, with a prayer service at 4 p.m., and 8-10 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2017, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven.
The William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 North Main St., New Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
