Obituary: J.L. Ritchie, 78, Bardstown
J.L. Ritchie, 78, of Bardstown, died Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Audubon Hospital in Louisville. He was born June 17, 1939, in Nelson County. He was a retired supervisor for the Nelson County School Bus Garage. He was a member of Mud-Dobber’s Four Wheeler Club, and a lifetime member of Bardstown Baptist Church where he was an usher, trustee, and served in many other church capacities. He enjoyed his mornings at Tom Pig’s Restaurant, and helping at Coulter’s Towing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Elsie Ritchie; and one sister, Joanie Wathen.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jennie Ritchie; three daughters, Sandy (Gary) Coulter and Sherry Leake, both of Bardstown, and Tina (Donnie) Hornback of Buffalo; one sister, Lois Hardeman of Bardstown; two brothers, Skeeter Ritchie of Bardstown and Jack Ritchie of Florida; two grandchildren, Lance (Kelli) Coulter and April Leake; several nieces and nephews; and his dog companion, Bentley.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the Bardstown Baptist Church with Dr. Randal Pollock officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, and 9 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday, July 20 at Barlow Funeral Home.
