Green River Lake drowning victim identified as Cox’s Creek teen

Monday, July 17, 2017 — Search crews recovered the body of a drowning victim at Green River Lake at about noon Monday.

The victim was identified as Tariq Armour, 18, of Cox’s Creek.

Officials say that a large group of people tried swimming from one side of the lake to a cover on the opposite side around 5 p.m. Sunday. The victim and another male attempting to the swim to the other side began struggling in the water and yelling for help.

The other male was rescued by members of the group, but witnesses told police Armour went under and did not come back up. Members of the group began searching for him but could not find him.
