Obituary: Thomas R. Jasper, 86, Mount Washington

Thomas R. Jasper, 86, of Mount Washington, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 20, 2017.

THOMAS R. JASPER

He received his Bachelor’s from Bowling Green Business College of Commerce in 1953. He is best known for his ownership of Central Garage Chrysler-Plymouth and later, Tom Jasper Chevrolet. He served as a director of Peoples Bank of Mount Washington. He was a charter member of the Mount Washington Lions Club, and was involved in founding the Mount Washington Fire Department. He was a leader who disliked the spotlight, and left his mark on the community.

He was a man of solid faith and a loving, dedicated family man. As an active lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington, he served as deacon and on various comittees.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Verneasa Troutman Jasper; three “bossy” daughters, Tara Mefford (Randy), Jill Bleemel (Patrick), and Cindy Dickerson (Eric); one sister, Nancy Carrithers; eight treasured grandchildren, Nichole Pierce (Michael), Miranda Burke (Kenny), Ben Bleemel (Tiffany), Andrew Bleemel (Mary), Megan Morris (Ryan), Morgan Mefford, Audra Bridges (Tyler), and Hannah Dickerson; and 12 fiesty great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life is 11 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Mount Washington with burial in the Mount Washington Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, and 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2017, at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mount Washington.

The family requests that all donations be sent to Hosparus or First Baptist Church of Mount Washington Building Fund.

The McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mount Washington is in charge of arrangements.
