Obituary: Joseph Philip ‘José’ Nalley, 69, Loretto

JOSEPH PHILIP “JOSÉ” NALLEY

Joseph Philip “José” Nalley, 69, of Loretto, died Saturday, July 22, 2017, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1947, in Loretto. He was a former owner and operator of Joe’s R. V. Repair in South Padre Island, Texas and later in Loretto. He was also a former employee of General Electric in Louisville; a member of the Loretto Sportsman’s Club; a Kentucky Colonel and a Maker’s Mark Ambassador.

He was preceded in death by his companion, Glenda Ann Heavrin; his parents, Joseph Truston and Mary Elsie Ruley Nalley; three infant siblings, David, Mary Ann and John Herbert Nalley; one daughter-in-law, Helene Nalley.

Survivors include three sons, Todd Nalley of Bardstown, Chris Nalley (Juanita Martinez) of Campbellsville and Greg Nalley of Loretto; five sisters, Mary Cecil (Bobby) of Bardstown, Linda Cecil (Louis) of New Hope, Joann Gootee (Frank) of Loretto, Carolyn Gootee of Lexington and Jenny Spannknebel of Louisville; five brothers, Leo Nalley (Frankie) and Joe “Tic” Nalley (Ellen), both of Loretto, Tommy Nalley of Holy Cross, Charles Nalley (Judy) of Lebanon and Tim Nalley of Bardstown; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog “Mikey”.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto, with the Rev. Bryan T. Lamberson officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are Charles Spannknebel, Randy Mattingly Jr., Ricky Mattingly, Albert Hawkins, David Nalley and Doug Mattingly. Donald Harlow and the nieces and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
