Martha Jewell Kelly, 81, formerly of Bardstown

MARTHA JEWELL KELLY

Martha Jewell Kelly, 81, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Bardstown, died Friday, July 28, 2017, at Elizabethtown Nursing and Rehab. She was born July 1, 1936, in Elizabethtown to the late Leslie Thomas and Clevia Alice Shields Curtsinger. She was a homemaker, and formerly worked with the FBI in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness Elizabethtown Congregation, and along with her husband, sisters and brothers, loved playing Bluegrass music and attending and performing at many festivals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Kelly; two sisters, Anna Louise Byrd and Pauline Curtsinger; and four brothers, Olus Marvin Curtsinger, R.C. Curtsinger, William Powers Curtsinger and Estill Thomas Curtsinger.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Foster of Louisville and Sharon (Micah) Gregory of Elizabethtown; one son, Leslie (Kelly) Kelly of Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Mary Alice Curtsinger and Betty Lorene Hellard, both of Elizabethtown; and five grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road with burial in the Cox’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, at the funeral home..

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
