THOMAS P. RITCHIE
Thomas P. Richie, 77, of Bardstown, died Saturday, July 29, 2017, at his residence. He was born on August 7, 1939, in Louisville to the late Thomas and Bernice Wellenbrock Richie. He was a graduate of Flaget High School, a member of the University of Louisville’s Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, the Nelson County Horticulture Society and Flaget Alumni Association. He will be remembered for his stories, zest for life, love of nature, animals, friends and most of all, the unconditional love for his daughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Thompson Richie and a sister Mary Catherine Estes.
He is survived by four daughters, Barbara Blackstone and Teresa Stine, both of Bardstown, Deborah Richie-Bray of California and Rosemary Watson-Jones of Louisville; two brothers, Louis Richie of Covington and Mark Richie of Louisville; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service Thursday evening at the funeral home.
The family request that donations go to Bernheim Forest.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.
