Obituary: Hazel Cathelene Turpin Roy, 81, New Haven

Hazel Cathelene Turpin Roy, 81, of New Haven, died Monday, July 31, 2017, at her residence in New Haven. She was a member of the Catholic faith and a homemaker. She was born Nov. 3,, 1935 in Lexington and was the daughter of the late William Ray and Bertha Chumbley Turpin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and most of all, friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gorma and Norma Turpin; and two brothers, Kenneth Turpin and Marlett Turpin.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gilbert H. Roy of New Haven; three daughters, Ann Roy of Montreal, Quebec, Jeannine “J.R.” Roy of New Haven,, and Marsha (Paul) Gaboriault of Cave City; two sons, Gilbert M. Roy of Cave City and Russell H. (CJ Hornback) Roy of Upton; one sister, Ellen Jane White of Indianapolis; two brothers William Ray Turpin of Indianapolis and Ronald Carl Turpin of Brodhead; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Celebration of Life Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St. in New Haven.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
