Obituary: Robert Wayne Stroupe, 80

ROBERT WAYNE STROUPE

Robert Wayne Stroupe, 80, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Green Meadows Health Care Center in Mount Washington. He was born March 31, 1937, in Ripley, Miss. to the late Ira and Julie Brady Stroupe. He was a former employee of Tecumseh and was a member of the Baptist faith. After retirement he drove a school bus and volunteered at the daycare for hospital employees at the local hospital in Tupelo, Miss.

He liked Twinkies, Diet Mountain Dew and wintergreen chewing tobacco.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Stroupe; one son, Donald Ray Stroupe; one stepson, Jerry Putt; and one sister, Bertie Coleman.

He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Elaine (Mike) Hanson and Dolly Jean (Chuck) Smith both of New Haven; two sons, David Wayne Stroupe of Bardstown and Douglas Leroy Stroupe of Clarksville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters; one sister, Martha (Tate) Presley of Ripley, Miss.; seven grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Nichols officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, is in charge of arrangements.
