Obituary: Elizabeth Irene Greenwell, 92, Culvertown

Elizabeth Irene Greenwell, 92, of Culvertown, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at her home. She was the former Irene Thornsberry, a homemaker, and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Culvertown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Eugene Greenwell Jr.; her children, Raphael “Buggs”, Stephen Phil, Owen Thurman, Phillip Stan, and Dorothy Ann Greenwell; her parents, James Kendrick and Mary Bertha Thornsberry; and siblings, Narvel, J.R., Billy, Roberta, and Dorothy Thornsberry.

She is survived by two daughters, Angie Murphy and Carol Greenwell; three sons, Dennis Greenwell, Vernie Greenwell and Van Greenwell; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Mass is Monday. Aug. 21, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial is in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.
