Obituary: Joseph Blair ‘Tico’ Mathis, 62, Bardstown
Joseph Blair “Tico” Mathis, 62, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville from complications from surgery for stomach cancer. He attended the University of Kentucky and was a Wildcat fan. He was the retired owner of Asphalt Sealing Company and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dinwiddie L. Mathis and Barbara McFarland Mathis.
He is survived by his sister, Rebecca (Cary) Mathis Pickands of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, Mark R. (Debi) Mathis of Bardstown; three nieces, Nika Mathis, Anya Mathis and Aria Mathis; and his loving companion, Tana Hardin.
A prayer service is 11 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Tico Mathis.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, who is in charge of arrangements.
