Obituary: Thomas Edward Mudd, 90, Fredericktown

THOMAS EDWARD MUDD

Thomas Edward Mudd, 90, of Fredericktown, died at 1:35 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at Bardstown Health & Rehab Center. He was a native of Washington County born May 21, 1927, to the late Xavier Eugene and Pearl Gertrude Gootee Mudd. He was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church, a farmer and a retired employee of Barton Distillery.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Corbett Mudd on September 27, 2007; three sisters, Roberta McIntyre, Angela Peterson and Sister Jean Gertrude; and three brothers, Charles Gonza Mudd, H.P. Mudd and Bernard Mudd.

Survivors include three daughters, Erlene Newton (Dennis) of Bardstown, Pam Parrott (Abell) of Springfield and Helena Wheatley (Dennis) of Bardstown; one son, Eddie Mudd (Kateri) of Springfield; two sisters, Geneva Mudd of Springfield and Gertrude Nally (Sheridan) of Bardstown; and one brother, Joe Mudd (Mary) of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at St. Rose Catholic Church with the Rev. Edmond Ditton officiating. Burial is in the St. Rose Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Mudd, Dennis Newton, Abell Parrott, Dennis Wheatley, Derek Newton, Evan Newton, Stephen Parrott and Fletcher McIntyre.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters and Godchildren.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at Carey & Son Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
