Obituary: Anne Rita Mauck, SCN, 90

Anne Rita Mauck, SCN, 90, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at Nazareth Home in Louisville. She was a native of Bridgeport, Ohio. She had been a professed Sister of Charity of Nazareth for 69 years.

She served in the ministry of education at St. Joseph School in Morganza, Md., and at Sacred Heart Academy in Helena, Ark. In Louisville, she served in education ministries at St. Patrick School and was principal at St. Gabriel School. In 1970, she founded The de Paul School in Louisville, one of the nation’s first schools to serve students with dyslexia and learning differences. She served as executive director until 1994 and continued to serve the school as a board member and volunteer until her death. She also served her SCN Community as the director of the Associate Program and was later elected to SCN leadership as head of the Southern Region.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, her religious community, and by the many persons whose lives she touched.

The Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at St. Vincent Church at Nazareth. Burial is in the Nazareth Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home. Local visitation is 9-10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at St. Vincent Church at Nazareth.

The Ratterman Funeral Home in Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
