Obituary: Effie Evelyn Wilson, 88, Cox’s Creek

EFFIE EVELYN WILSON

Effie Evelyn Wilson, 88, of Cox’s Creek, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at the residence of her daughter in Shepherdsville. She was born July 11, 1929, in Edmonson County to the late Oakley and Lala Shrum Gillihan. She was a former employee of Best Western for more than 30 years in housekeeping. She enjoyed reading, quilting and crocheting. She was a member of the Nelson County Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wilson; and two sons, Steve Wilson and Ronnie Wilson.

She is survived by one daughter, Connie Hall of Shepherdsville; two sons, Richard Wilson of Cox’s Creek and Donnie Wilson of Upton; two sisters, Barbara Sackett of Bowling Green and Pat Vaughn of Franklin; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Mobley officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
