Obituary: William ‘Bill’ Buckman, 59, Bardstown
William “Bill” Buckman, 59, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017. He was born Nov. 2, 1957, in Nelson County to James T. and Helen Hagan Buckman. He was a retired Bardstown City Police officer. He was an employee of the Kentucky Gun Co. and a member of the Catholic faith. He served one two-year term as councilman on the Bardstown City Council. He was an U.S. Marine Corps veteran and served as the financial officer at American Legion Post 121. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his father, James T. Buckman; and one brother, James “Jimmy” Buckman.
He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany (Josh) Lyvers of Bardstown; his mother, Helen Buckman of Bardstown; three sisters, Nora (Jackie) Dones of New Haven, Barbara (Glen) Gray of Lebanon Junction and Beverly (Mark) Tillery of St. Petersburg, Fla.; his granddaughter, Shelbie Gaffney; and his girlfriend, Dorothy Withrow of Frankfort.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road with Bro. Gary Chesser and the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating. Burial is in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at the funeral home.
