Obituary: Norma Jean Humphrey, 80, Cox’s Creek

Norma Jean Humphrey, 80, of Cox’s Creek, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at her residence. She was born May 3, 1937, in Cox’s Creek to the late Orville Justice and Elizabeth Loretta Goben Stone. She was a homemaker and a member of The First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James R. “Buddy” Humphrey.

She is survived by four daughters, Donna Dadisman of Hillview, Carol (Steve) Tatro of Louisville, and Melissa Yates and Stacy (Joe) Stagnolia, both of Cox’s Creek; five sons, Henry (Susan) Yates and Willie (LeeAnn) Yates, both of Louisville, Joey Yates of Clarksville, Ind., Doug (Kay) Yates of Shepherdsville and Mark Yates of Louisville; two sisters, Louise (Sonny) Cozine and Shelia Kay Evans, both of Cox’s Creek; two brothers, Joe (Debbie) Stone of Florida and Darrell Stone of Cox’s Creek; 17 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. John Powell officiating. Burial is in the St. Catherine Catholic Church Cemetery at New Haven.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, and after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family request memorial donations take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
