Obituary: Lois Irene Reid, 80, Bardstown

LOIS IRENE REID

Lois Irene Reid, 80, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was born March 29, 1937, in Bardstown to the late Paul B. and Rebecca “Becky” Salsman Keith. She was a graduate of St. Marys of the Springs College in Columbus, Ohio, where she obtained her Bachelors degree in education and her masters degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She was a retired elementary teacher having taught in several states and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Reid Marshall; four brothers Charlie, Gordon, Jack and Bob; one sister, Martha Jean Morrow; and one brother-in-law, Harry Whitaker.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Walter John Reid; one daughter, Rise’ Reid (Tommy) Ballard of Bardstown; two sons, Steven (finace’ Kathy) and Thomas Stewart (Lorilei) Reid, all of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Mary M. (James) Potts of Spokane, Wash. and Julia Whitaker of Florida; two brothers, Buddy (Jean) Keith of Louisville and Paul (Maryann) Keith of Illinois; one son-in-law, Bill Marshall of Tampa, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A non-ceremonial cremation was chosen by the family with no visitation or funeral service.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in the form on donations to St. Mary’s of the Springs, 2320 Airport Dr., Columbus, OH, 43219.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, Bardstown, is in charge of arrangements.
