Obituary: Jim ‘Coach’ Waldorf, 90, Bardstown

Jim “Coach” Waldorf, 90, of Bardstown, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born July 22, 1927, in New Concord, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a volunteer for more than 40 years at Bardstown High School coaching football and track. He was a volunteer for the Bread For Life Food Bank, a member of Muskinghum “M” Club, Muskinghum Alumni Association, Bardstown High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and Bardstown United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Todd Waldorf; his parents, Harry and Martha Waldorf; and one brother, Harry Bert Waldorf.

He is survived by seven children, Rebecca Mayes, Christine Futch, and Timothy (Monica) Waldorf, all of Bardstown; Marta Doyle of Cincinnati, Jaime (Marc) Davis of Pueblo, Colo., Beth Ann (Kevin) Cannon of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Matt Waldorf of Hill City, South Dakota; one brother, William Waldorf of Catoosa, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside service is 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at the Bardstown Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Bradley officiating.

A celebration of his life is 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at the Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to the Bread For Life Food Bank, Bardstown High School Athletic Fund, or the Bardstown United Methodist Church.
