Obituary: Sister Katherine A. Misbauer, 78, Nerinx
Sister Katherine A. Misbauer, also known as Sister Catherine Sienna, 78, of the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary in Nerinx, died there Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017. She was born Nov. 8, 1938, in St. Louis, Mo. to the late Joseph Albert and Katheran Bellovich Misbauer. She entered religious life in 1955 and received her final vows in 1963. She graduated from Webster College in Missouri and earned her Master’s degree in Spanish in 1966 from Notre Dame University. Her assignments were located in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Texas and the Philippines.
In Kentucky, she taught at Christ the King and St. Francis Schools in Louisville and she was the former principal of St. Augustine High School in Lebanon from 1963 until it closed. She also served locally on the board of the Caring Place and as president of the Casa Guadalupe Board in Springfield. She was the creator, designer and director of the Loretto Heritage Center-Museum and Archives at Nerinx until her retirement in 2013.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at the Loretto Motherhouse Church with burial in the motherhouse cemetery.
A wake will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, at the mother house.
The Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
