Obituary: Mary Helen Ames, 74, Nazareth

Mary Helen Ames, 74, of Nazareth, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born March 26, 1943, in Nelson County to the late J.R. and Mary Lena Hardin Davis. She was a retired special education teacher for Hardin County Schools at Central Hardin. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Order of the Eastern Star, and New Hope Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Michelle Christerson of Springfield and Shanda Riley of Louisville; two sons, Mark Riley of Bullitt County and Larry Riley of Taylorsville; four sisters, Nancy Crowe and Flossie (Richard) Crowe, both of Indiana, Kathy Holt of Bardstown, and Debbie (Kenny) Wright of Lebanon; three brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Davis of Bardstown, Roger (Nelda) Davis of Nicholasville and Gary (Sherry) Davis of Utah; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Karl Lusk officiating. Burial is in Highview Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
