Obituary: Gladys Ritter Parish, 98, Bloomfield

Gladys Ritter Parish, 98, of Bloomfield, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at Bluegrass Assisted Living in Bardstown. She was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Shelby County to the late J.L. and Ann Cleveland Ritter. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Parish; two sisters, Mary R. Cox and Joetta Parker; and one great-great granddaughter, Heavenly Faith Drury.

She is survived by one son, Roy Lee (Sharon) Parish of Chaplin; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Ryan McCormick officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to the donor’s favorite charity.
