Obituary: Charles Newman Corbett, 84, Louisville

Charles Newman Corbett, 84, of Louisville, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at his residence. He was born Sept. 3, 1933, in Holy Cross to the late William Wallace Corbett Sr. and Anna Florence Downs Corbett. He was a retired employee of General Electric and a member of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judith Lynn Corbett; five sisters, Elvadine Newton, Georgia Green, Bernadette Nalley, Mary Alice McBelli and Appalonia Wimsatt; five brothers, Clyde Corbett, Henry Corbett, Herbert Corbett, Carmen Corbett and Wallace Corbett; and one infant granddaughter, Judith Lynn Sowders.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ann Clan Corbett; three daughters, Debbie Curtsinger (Joe) of Bardstown, Karen Frank (Darren) of Hillview and Vickie Sowders of Fairdale; two sons, David Corbett (Marisa) and Tommy Corbett, both of Louisville; one sister, Bertie Ann Schoen of Duneden, Fla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Brian A. Kenney officiating.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
