Obituary: Monica Valeria Snellen Duff, 86, Elizabethtown

Monica Valeria Snellen Duff, 86, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at her home. She was a Catholic and a 1949 graduate of St. Catherine High School in New Haven. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with the ones she held dear.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Isaac “Buddy” Duff; her parents, Vernon and Edna Rogers Snellen; two sisters, Elizabeth Snellen and LaVerne Boone; and three brothers, Deward, Nolan, and Vernon Jr.

She is survived by four daughters, Dianne (Steve) Atcher, Janice (Alan) Brown, Laura (Eric) Watts, all of Elizabethtown, and Barbara (Jeff) Hornback of Sonora; one son, Daniel R. (JoAnn) Duff of New Bern, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and her special friend and caregiver, Rosemary Leal.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College Street, Elizabethtown with the Rev. Pablo Hernandez and Deacon Jim Cecil officiating. Burial is in the Elizabethtown Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, and after 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.
