Obituary: Lyda Lee Taylor, 99, Bardstown

LYDA LEE TAYLOR

Lyda Lee Taylor, 99, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Bluegrass Assisted Living in Bardstown. She was born Feb. 14, 1918, in Nelson County. She graduated from Chaplin High School in 1935 where she was valedictorian. She graduated from Georgetown College in 1939. She worked for J.C. Newcomb Oil Company. She was lifelong member of Flaget Auxiliary and a charter member of Old Kentucky Home Country Club. She loved antiques, was a longtime Baptist, a member of Bardstown United Methodist Church, and a staunch Democrat.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Taylor; one son, Charles Murphy Taylor; and her parents, Allen and Exye Coomes.

She is survived two daughters, Jane Dawson (Jim) Roby of Bardstown, and Margaret Ann Boyle of Woodbridge, Va.; one son, Julian Allen (Vickie Gaddie) Taylor of Bardstown; eight grandchildren, Lee Taylor Hall, Brian Taylor, Ginny Holland, J.T. Roby, Michael Lyvers, Chas Taylor, Timmy Taylor, and Ashley Taylor; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Bardstown United Methodist Church with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Bradley and Rev. Scott C. Stith officiating.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home, and 10-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Bardstown United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may go to Bardstown United Methodist Church or Flaget Cancer Center, Project Hope.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
