Obituary: Betty Jane Borders Howard, 78, Springfield
Betty Jane Borders Howard, 78, of Springfield, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Bardstown Health & Rehab with her family by her side after a battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Washington County to the late Albertus and Alberta Ballard Borders. She was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Church, an employee of the former Jane & Linda Sportswear in Lebanon for more than 20 years and retired from Heaven Hill Distilleries in 2000. She traveled the U.S. extensively after her retirement. She loved her family unconditionally.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Howard Jr.; three sons, Jerry Medley (Mary) of Mount Washington, Craig Medley (Kathy) of Springfield and Ken Medley (Debi) of Owensboro; two stepchildren, Paul Howard III (Myra) and Brad Howard (Jennifer), both of Lebanon; one sister, Dixie Smith of Bardstown; two brothers, Jay “Bodo” Borders of Clarkson and David Borders of Bardstown; nine much-loved grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at St. Dominic Catholic Church with the Rev. Culpepper Elliott officiating. Burial is in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Leslie Rowland, Jessica Kendall, Holly Medley, Heather Burns, LeAnne Shouse, Kristen Terrell and Amber Medley.
Casket bearers will be Ryan Medley, Kyle Medley, Mike Canchola, Brian Borders, Parker Borders and Jim Young.
Visitation is 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at the Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
The Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
