New Haven mayor invited to Washington to honor WWII Filipino veterans

SATURDAY, OCT. 28, 2017 — New Haven Mayor Tessie Cecil and her husband Don visited with U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie (KY-2) last week while they were in Washington, D.C The couple were in Washington to attend the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony to honor Filipino veterans of World War II. Cecil was born in the Philippines and her father served in World War II alongside U.S. troops. Guthrie also took them to visit the White House. Pictured above from right, Rep.
