Obituary: Irene L. Pierce, 71, Cox’s Creek

Irene L. Pierce, 71 , of Cox’s Creek, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was the former Irene Milliner and daughter to the late Michael and Mary Catherine Milliner. She was a native of Grayson County and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mount Washington.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John Pierce; one daughter, Cathy Owen (Nathan) ; one son, Ron Pierce (Gwen); six sisters, Norma Jean Witten, Anna Rose Frank (Floyd), Brenda Cripps (Robert), Linda Stogner (Dan), Glenda Miller (Kenny) and Mary Crawford (Jan); two brothers, Michael Milliner (Janice) and Gerald Milliner (Elaine); and four grandchildren, Brian Pierce, Brent Pierce, Austin Owen and Taylor Owen.

The Funeral Mass was 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mount Washington with burial in the church cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The Schmid Funeral Home in Mount Washington was in charge of arrangements.
