Obituary: William L. ‘Bill’ Coomes, 91, Bardstown
William L. “Bill” Coomes, 91, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at his residence. He was born Feb. 19, 1926, in Louisville. He was the retired trade sales director for National Paint-Varnish & Lacquer Association; a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ann Coomes; two sisters, Margaret Ann Kapfhammer and Virginia Heeb; and two brothers, Jim Coomes and Bryan J. Coomes.
He is survived by one son, Thomas L. (Donna) Coomes of Lake Park, Ga.; three brothers, Kenney Coomes of LaGrange, Vincent Coomes of Cincinnati, and Michael Coomes of Shepherdsville; three grandchildren, Tracey Dodson, Tom G. Coomes, and Christopher Coomes; six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Lana, Mitchell, Maria, Codi, and Cheyanne; and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery with the Rev. Jason Harris officiating.
Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, and 8-9:15 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Barlow Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may go to St. Vincent Depaul Mission Store or St. Thomas Catholic Church.
