Obituary: Joseph Francis ‘Joe’ Ballard, 77, Loretto
Joseph Francis “Joe” Ballard, 77, of Loretto, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Home in Lebanon. He was born Jan. 7, 1940, in Louisville. He was a former employee of Buzick Construction and a Catholic by faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Thomas and Mary Lynn Clan Ballard; and one brother, James Everett Ballard.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Brady Ballard; one daughter, Ann Calhoun (David) of Shepherdsville; three sons, Wayne Ballard, Ray Ballard and Tony Ballard, all of Loretto; one sister, Mary Jeanette “Sissy” Davis of Louisville; one brother, William Henry Ballard of Bardstown; two grandchildren, Tiffany Calhoun of Mount Washington and Josh Calhoun of Shepherdsville; and one great-grandson, Nathan Taylor.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with Deacon Joseph R. Dant presiding with burial in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Donnie Miles, Josh Calhoun, Donnie Nalley, David Calhoun, Justine Taylor and Troy Mattingly.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
