Obituary: Robert Henry Handley, 83, Hodgenville
Robert Henry Handley, 83, of Hodgenville, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at his residence with his family by his side. He was a member of First Baptist Church Hodgenville.
He was born March 14, 1934, in LaRue County to the late Marion Scotty and Carneila Price Handley. He was one of the original singers with the Lincolnairs. He sang in the choir for more than 40 years with Pleasant Union Church and First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alda Johnson Handley; his parents; three sisters, Lila Handley Mitchell, Alice Handley McClain and Sarah Handley Taylor; and two brothers, Paul M. Handley Sr. and Samuel P. Handley.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgia (Luis) Handley Pena of Elizabethtown and Jackie Handley of Hodgenville; two sons, Robert G. Handley and Troy D. Handley, both of Hodgenville; one brother, Woody R. Handley of Hodgenville; a special niece and caregiver, Marshall Johnson Wright; eight grandchildren, Anton Newby, Sarah Mathers, Brook Lee, Ashley Handley, Savia Handley Brashear, Elaina, Emma, and Ethan Pena; five great-grandchildren; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The funeral is 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel, with the Rev. Kenny Carter and the Rev. William Curle officiating. Burial is 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, at the Kentucky Veteran Cemetery Central.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, 6 p.m. service in the funeral home chapel.
The William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel, 612 N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville is in charge of arrangements.
