Obituary: Annie Ruth King Smith, 83, Louisville
Annie Ruth King Smith, 83, of Louisville, formerly of Spencer County, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.
She was born in Wesson, Miss. the daughter of the late Thomas Lester and Elva Lee McGehee King. She attended Southeast Christian Church in Louisville. She was a homemaker, an excellent seamstress and cook who was devoted to her family and friends. She was also a nurse who worked at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown and in the medical records department of the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, John Gregory Smith; one brother, Tom King; and her great-great-granddaughter, Lexie Rae Stump.
Survivors include her husband, Doyle Smith of Louisville; two daughters, Linda Smith-Hood (Bob) of Springfield, and Susie Smith (Ricky Smith), of Bardstown; one son, Mark D. Smith (Elizabeth) of Campbellsville; two sisters, Sue Farris (I.J), and Mae Lee Chandler, both of Louisville; one sister-in-law, Rolla Jean Walker of Taylorsville; five grandchildren, Christy Maddox, Leia Smith, Vincent Aubrey Smith, Maddie Smith, and Johnny Lee Smith; two great-grandchildren, Courtney Stump and Gregory Maddox; and one great-great-grandchild, Raylee Stump.
The funeral was Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Taylorsville with the Rev. Eric Gilbert officiating. Burial was in the Elk Creek Cemetery in Elk Creek.
