Obituary: Edmond Elwood Richardson, 89, Mount Washington

Edmond Elwood Richardson, 89, of Mount Washington, died peacefully Thursday evening, Nov. 16, 2017 at Signature Nursing and Rehabilitation in Taylorsville. He was retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department after 33 years of service. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He was a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was born on Ashes Creek in Nelson County. He was the son of Ruel and Myrtle Terrell Richardson.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Wanda Thomas Richardson; one daughter Michelle Leigh Richardson; two sisters, Helen Morris and Gladys Ethel Richardson; and two brothers, Kenneth Richardson and Clinton Richardson.

He was survived by three children, Jacqueline Beardall (Russell) of Overland Park, Kan., Marke Wesley Richardson (Tammy) of Shepherdsville and Mickey Richardson of South Shore; two sisters, Thelma Hood of Lawrenceburg and Nancy Lewis of Louisville; one sister-in-law, Lorine Richardson of Bardstown; eight grandchildren, Elisabeth Nemchek (Chris), Nikolas Beardall (Lauren), Sushannah Beardall and Caroline Beardall of Overland Park, Kan., Evan Beardall (Taylor) of Omaha, Neb., Catharine Hudman (Justin) of Columbus, Ind., Ella Mae Porter of South Shore and Anna Grace Porter of Elizabethtown; and two great-grandsons, Todd Hudman and Cooper Hudman.

The family would like to thank those who assisted dad and the family from Hosparus: Stephanie, Robin and Melissa from the Louisville branch; Dana from the Spencer County branch; and also Heather, Bella and Leeann from Spencer Signature Nursing and Rehab for their excellent service, compassion and care during this time.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at the McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mount Washington with burial to follow in Highview Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
