Obituary: Joseph James Skala, 80, Elizabethtown

Joseph James Skala, 80, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at the home of his son.

He was a Christian by faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and worked as a mechanic on Fort Knox.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Helen Skala; one sister, Elizabeth Hartig; one brother, Sonny Skala; and a daughter-in-law, Tonya K. Hall Skala.

Survivors include one daughter, Laura L. Rawlings (Jason); one son, James L. Skala (Debbie); one brother, Tom Skala (Judy); and five grandchildren.

Visitation is 1-5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at the Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Cremation will follow..

Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of donations to Hosparus of Central Kentucky and the DAV.

The Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown has been entrusted with the arrangements.
