Obituary: Joseph Kindred “J.K.” Banks, 75, Elizabethtown

Joseph Kindred (J.K.) Banks, 75, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at his home. He was born Jan. 13, 1942 at Fort Knox. He spent 23 years in the U.S. Army Military Police Corp. He was a Boy Scout and a member of Order of the Arrow. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #113 and DAV. He did volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America, Kentucky Hunter Education where he was a bow hunter instructor, and NRA. He was a volunteer Fort Knox Game Warden for 29 years and Chief Military Police Game Warden for five years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Crockett and Verna Mae Hart Banks and a granddaughter, Hailey Raeann Banks.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Calla Rae McClure Banks; three sons, Crockett Hardin and Kindred Ray Banks, both of Elizabethtown, and Robert Gregory (Barbara) Banks of Bardstown; one sister, Louatha (Dave) Cheese of Danville; one brother, Robert James (Lynn) Banks of Roanoke, Va.; and three grandchildren, Amanda, Landon, and Adalyn.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at the Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with burial in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Donor’s favorite charity.

The Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is in charge of arrangements.
